KC safety certification

Electrical products manufactured and distributed domestically and internationally are required to undergo essential testing and certification prior to distribution.
Depending on the product's rating and universality, it is divided into safety certification, safety confirmation, and supplier suitability confirmation.
Among these, products that are actively distributed in daily life and have a high potential for risk are required to receive mandatory safety certification.

Pre-safety certification system for electrical appliances subject to safety certification (product testing and factory inspection)

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Goods Safety Management Act, anyone who manufactures electrical appliances subject to safety certification or manufactures them overseas and intends to export them to Korea must obtain safety certification for each model of the electrical appliance subject to safety certification from a safety certification agency before shipment (domestic manufacturing) or before customs clearance (imported products). This certification system verifies the safety of products subject to safety certification before shipment through product testing to confirm compliance with safety standards and factory inspections to ensure the manufacturer's ability to consistently maintain the quality of the products subject to safety certification.

Safety Confirmation System: Reporting and sales after product testing is confirmed to be suitable (factory inspection and regular inspection are omitted)

This procedure requires manufacturers or importers to undergo product testing at a safety certification agency and, if the product is found to meet safety standards, report it to the agency and then sell it. This omits the factory inspection and periodic inspection (factory inspection + product testing) procedures previously required under the safety certification system.

Supplier Conformity Verification System: Conformity verification, reporting, and sales after in-house and third-party testing (low-risk electrical appliances)

This safety management system aims to improve the efficiency of the electrical product safety management system for various risk levels and ease regulations on low-risk electrical products. It allows companies to conduct product testing themselves or commission third-party testing to confirm compliance with electrical product safety standards. After confirming compliance, they can report the results to the Korea Product Safety Agency before selling the products.
